Advice for the aspiring model
As most girls I talk to about modelling these days want to be a glamour model
I am giving this area a great deal space so you can be sure of what you are
getting into. When I say become a glamour model I mean a glamour model. A
great many girls approach us saying they want to be glamour models, but sometimes
that's not true. All they want is to appear in what have become known as 'Lads
Mags' so let me say right away that is not modelling. There are a few professional
models that appear and are highly paid the rest are hopefuls that send in
pictures in the hope of getting a shoot. If they do they don't get paid and
don't get invited back. Think of this more like a wet T-shirt competition,
where the guy running the competition makes lots of money from all the guys
that have paid to come along to watch and increases the money spent in the
venue on drinks, the guys in the audience have a great time seeing loads of
girls virtually topless. What do the girls get? The winner might get a cash
prize, but little else. I'm not saying there is anything wrong if you love
posing in front of lots of guys, what I am saying is as you don't get paid
we don't consider this modelling.
Glamour modelling can be glamorous, however,
you need to be secure in your appearance and have a good physique, not only
that, but you also need to be 18 years or older.
Glamour modeling can involve quite a bit of nudity
or semi-nudity, however, it is not to be confused with pornography. If you
really want to get technical, it can be considered a kind of “soft core”
porn, and some consider it a form of degradation, but others think of it as
fun and an expression of a woman's freedom to express herself as she pleases.
So if you are really secure in your appearance and enjoy being the centre
of attention, you love to turn heads when you enter anywhere then this is
for you.
You must understand glamour modelling is like
any other job, the hours can be long, and hanging around can get very boring.
You will need to be able to travel to jobs, so able to drive, or read train
timetables. We have had girls that have been offered an interview with an
agency and when given the details asked us how they would get there. We hope you are capable of finding out how to arrange transport to get to an address.
Be honest with yourself, if you are 5' 2"
and a size 16 there really is very littler chance of you becoming a glamour
model, the same goes if you have bad skin, or hair. A photographer will not
be happy if you turn up for a shoot with acne, bruises, bloodshot eyes or
anything that detracts from your beauty. Remember if a shoot is planned and
you don't turn up ready for work then the client could lose several hundred
pounds.
Glamour modelling includes clubwear, swimwear
and lingerie as well as nudity - implied or actual, top or full. Some Figure
and Art modelling, typically artistic nude photography, is included in the
Glamour Modelling category. Because of the broad scope encompassed in the
term it's always as well to clarify very carefully beforehand what you are
and are not prepared to do, when putting yourself forward for a glamour shoot.
A curvy figure, larger breasts and good looks
tend to be an asset in this type of modelling. Rates of pay can be quite good
for glamour modelling.
