Advice for the aspiring model
There are lots of guys and girls out there ready to
take your money off you because they know how desperate you are to be a model,
and let's be honest if someone tells you that you could be the next Katie
Price, or Lucy Pinder you will be flattered. However not flattered enough
I hope to get your credit card out to sign up to an agency, or a model training
school, or a pseudo agency that claims to prepare you to join an agency without
actually being one.
Most seriously is the going abroad scam. You may be offered a wonderful modelling
job abroad all expenses etc. Do not sign until you have read the small print.
It might say that they will claim back from you all costs if you do not comply
with all their instructions. Just think what you might be asked to do!
You might find you have no return ticket and will find yourself hostessing
in bars for the agent to earn the return. Worse still you could find yourself
forced to do things
you really do not want to do.
So it is all doom and gloom, but not really perhaps
the offer is genuine! It would be awful to miss such an opportunity, so it
just means being sensible. Keep hold of your passport at all times. See the
return ticket and have possession of it before you leave. Have a mobile phone
that works in the country you are going to and arrange to phone family every
day and do!
