Advice for the aspiring model
If you feel you might benefit from training
to be a model there are lots of questions to ask before you part with your
hard earned cash.
Will they show you exactly what is needed to
break into the modeling world. For ever 10,000 people that want to be a model
in this fiercely competitive business less than 1 will make it onto a top
agencies books. Good looks, a fabulous sculpted body and a great personality
can only take you so far.
If they are offering courses what is involved? We have been working with models
for years and can honestly say that a half day in a hotel conference room
is not going to teach you very much. Will they show you how to approach an
agency? Will they show you how to start your book? (Portfolio) Some claim
to teach you how to pose in front of a camera, but seriously you can practice
that in front of a mirror at home.
So the questions to ask to ensure your money is not
just going to plump up their bank account but is going to enhance your experience
and truly benefit you.
1) The names of 2 models that did their training and are now working professionally.
2) The names of two professional photographers that they work with who can
be found on the internet.
3) If they claim to have been used in adverts and done fashion shows etc.,
ask them to provide evidence. Any genuine company will be delighted.
REMEMBER testimonials from would be models about
what a nice time they had are worthless. Testimonials from model and talent
agencies saying how delighted they are with the models the training is producing
is very valuable, but usually hard to find.
Finally any reference to a model agency check them
out on the Internet.
